Mission Statement
The Connecticut Death Collective was originally founded at the beginning of 2022
by Celine Currier, Jackie Genovese, & Becca Ainley, to build community, encourage open conversation about death and dying, and increase awareness about death care, home funerals, and green burial options in Connecticut.
Our mission is to cultivate an open and supportive community where people can gather and speak freely about one of the most universal experiences in life—death. Through a variety of monthly in-person and virtual events, we aim to provide death workers, the death curious, and anyone in between a compassionate space to connect, share, listen, and learn through insightful discussions on mortality. Given Connecticut’s restrictions on home funerals, green burials, and the lack of approval for Medical Aid in Dying (MAID), we also seek to foster honest conversations for those exploring less common end-of-life and burial options.
